Hunsrueck
The Hunsrueck is a low mountain range in Rhineland-Palatinate. It is bordered in the north by the river Moselle , in the south by the Nahe , and by the Rhine in the east. The Hunsrück is continued by the Taunus mountains in the east of the Rhine. In the north behind the Moselle it is continued by the Eifel. The Palatinate is located in the south of the Nahe.
Many of the hills are not higher than 420 m. There are some higher peaks within the Hunsrück, the highest are: Idarkopf (746 m) and Erbeskopf (816 m). Some small towns located within the Hunsrück are Simmern, Kirchberg, and Idar-Oberstein, Kastellaun, and Morbach.
Hahn Airport, an expanding airport for passengers and cargo is also located within the region. The airline with the most aircraft operations, is the low- cost carrier Ryanair.
The climate in the Hunsrück is characterised by windy and couldy weather.
