Mettmann
Mettmann was first documented in the year 904 as
Königshof Medamama. In the year 1248 King Wilhelm of Holland alienated it to Graf Adolf von Berg. In 1424
Mettmann preserved the rights of a free community. Between 1850 and 1910 the last reamins of the old city wall were destroyed.
Today Mettmann is the district town of a district of the same name and also the home of the world famous Neanderthal.
